Event Photography Risk Assessment
If you are an event organiser you might well be asked by the venue to provide a Risk Assessment for your DJ’s, Caterers, Photographers and all your suppliers..
There are two factors with risk assement
The severity of the accident and the Probability of it happening
I have always worked to a 1-6 scale
Probability
1 Very unlikely
2 Unlikely
3 May occur
4 Likely
5 Very likely
6 Will occur
Severity
1 Very minor injury
2 Minor injury
3 Lost time to injury
4 Major injury
5 Single fatality
6 Multiple fatality
As an example swithing on a light switch will have a risk factor of 4
If you get electrocuted then you will have a major injury (4) but it is very unlikely (1) to happen 4×1=4
0-6(low risk)
7-17 (medium risk)
18-36 (high risk)
You just multiple the probability of it happening by the seriousness of the injury that could result in an accident.
You are often required to say how you would also minimise the risk.
Like taping down wires to minimise tripping hazards.
There is an example below.
